Mindy Lee and Joel Lyons' tale begins in the summer of 1998. On a hillside. At summer camp. Yes, folks, this is a true story. Joel was one of Mindy's camp counselors at Anytown USA in Prescott, Ariz. They immediately clicked after an impromptu sing-a-long of Deep Blue Something's "Breakfast at Tiffany's." They stayed friends after camp and, as fate would have it, shared an unforgettable undergraduate experience at ASU, where they were both students in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

After graduation, Joel left for graduate school at the University of Missouri-Columbia, while Mindy remained at the Cronkite school to begin her graduate program. The two reunited in the summer of 2005, where they were both selected for internships in New York City. Once again, they were in the same place at the same time. Manhattan wasn't ready.

After obtaining his master's degree, Joel returned to Arizona to start his career in journalism. One day, they were sitting at brunch, and the following conversation took place:

Mindy: You know what's missing?

Joel: What?

Mindy: We need a group for young media professionals to get together, drink and b&*!$ about our jobs.

Joel: Yes, let's do this. I'll start organizing it!

Fast forward to now, and thanks to Joel's unparalleled diligence (Mindy just shows up and drinks), AZ Media Buzz has grown from a mere five attendees at the first event to becoming one of the premier media networking events in the Valley.

Whether you're new in town or have been in the biz for years, AZ Media Buzz has just you're looking for: media professionals like yourself ... and alcohol.

Perfection.
